Mother Trucker almost kills us on way to Yosemite

Last night the Moon was on fire. This morning the Sun followed suit. These wildfires are really something.

The drive today to Yosemite was nailbiting at best. Good Buddy had a glass of Pino Grigio to make it through 60 some miles of wild roads. 25 of those miles were on a 1.5 lane road with hairpin turns, 24% grade, blind spots galore, and STEEP drop offs off the shoulders. We used RV Trip Wizard to plan the route, so we are not sure why it sent us that way. The signs all said vehicles over 25ft in length should turn around.
After 4 hours of white-knuckling it, we did make it to the rv park. With the fires, it is very empty and that is quite okay.
Fun silhouette signs near Carson City, NV.

Scenic but scary drive through the Stanislaus National Forest. We didn't get any pics of the extreme grades and turns because we were holding on for our lives.
Passed through the town of Columbia, CA. It's old architecture was very delightful and whimsical.
Houdini was struggling to keep his breakfast down through the twists and turns.

Touring around the Biggest Little City

Yesterday we headed further into the wild west through Nevada's wide expanses. You know you are in Nevada when the Arby's has a casino. Also stopped for a wash of our rig at a truck wash.

Today we drove over to California and North Lake Tahoe, or as we call it Myrtle Beach for NorCal.
Then it was over to Carson City for lunch and then up into Virginia City for a step back into time. We also managed to get some errands done too.

It was fun watching the staff wash and wax. Much easier than us trying to wash it ourselves. The dogs were very upset about all the commotion.
Wardrobe malfunction! The sunglasses literally just exploded while we were driving when I sneezed into my shirt.

The calm before the storm of Lake Tahoe.
Gas prices are Cray Cray out here! (Just on the Cali side of Tahoe. About $1.50 higher than in Reno.)
Into California!
Nothing but cars all the way around the lake. Too busy for our taste.
Carson City was a fun little town...

Entering Virginia City, NV.

Really good and cheap ice cream! (and they sell fudge)
This dude, his car, and his dog support Trump. He also had music playing ( Who Let the Dogs Out?). Regardless of your thoughts on the pres, this dog is awesome!
Back in Reno.
