Out of the Fires, For Now

We made it to Newberry Springs, CA. It is outside of Barstow where the air is much clearer today. Temps are in the high 80's and we could have the windows open at night without ash filling the RV.

Not much around, but we did make it to Yermo, CA and the Calico Ghost Town. The area is owned by the county but individual businesses run the shops at the town. There were only a handful of shops open and even fewer folks checking it out. It was cool to look at all the restored items that Walter Knott (Knott's Berry Farm) had a hand in restoring in the 50's.

Then we stuffed our faces at Roy's Cafe. Good Buddy almost ordered a Heart Attack Burger, but settled on a triple and aniliated it. Mother Trucker downed a giant wet shrimp burrito. Yummmm.

What a funny inscription!

Before... And after...
Good Buddy enjoyed that burger!!!
Our RV park is on the original Route 66.
