Wildlife Bingo and Armageddon in Sequoia and Kings Canyon Areas

Today was our last day at Sequoia and Kings Canyon and it was perfect timing. Campgrounds in Kings Canyon are closing as the fires draw nearer to them. We are safe but there are lots of other evacuations about 30 miles away. We definitely are smelling it and the ash is accumulating like snow. We made the mistake of having Winfield's windows open last night, so this morning surfaces were covered in ash.

We went to see the General Sherman tree(the biggest tree by volume... In the WORLD!) first with few crowds. Then it was off to the Big Tree Trail where Good Buddy won her wildlife bingo game with a black bear encounter at the end of the trail. She was able to scare the bear off the path so we could get out with our loves.

We then took on a 5.5 mile hike (round trip) to the summit of Big Baldy. The day was marked with dark smoky skies and ash falling everywhere. Time to get out of dodge!

The morning sun was creepy.
Tanya the squirrel got the mother lode score with this pine cone as big as herself. The infamous General Sherman tree. Largest by trunk volume in the world!
This fawn greeted us on the start of Big Trees Trail.
The name of this trail is pretty self explanatory.
Bernice was pretty inquisitive until Good Buddy started jumping and yelling at it.
You still there?
Beginning our walk to Big Baldy Summit.
Geraldo was catching some rays at the top.
The Thinker...
Test- can you spot the spider in this picture?
The sky was very ominous and ash rained down on us all day.
Creepy look to the forest.
The smoke was just everywhere today.Good Buddy's view through her sunglasses.
