Hiking - 6 Stars, 30 Mile Road to Hike - 0 Stars

Today we headed East to the Grand Staircase Escalante Monument area. It was about 30 minutes to the town of Escalante on normal roads. It was an hour + to the trailhead on sandy, rocky, dirt roads complete with full-on wash boards. Miss Fit made it though -- she's one tough cookie.

The hike was RIDICULOUS! It wasn't terribly long, but the climbing and scrambling through TIGHT spaces was off the hook. Mother Trucker barely made it through some spots. The views and experience was worth it though. Both Peekaboo and Spooky Trails gave us lots of challenges and a badge of honor after completing! Then we hopped over to Dry Fork Narrows for a "cool down" from the work out.

The "road" to the trail.
Miss Fit arrived shaken up and dusty, but still kickin!
Starting the trail from the canyon rim.
12 ft climb up into Peekaboo Canyon.
This was one of the challenging parts.
We almost got stuck several times.
Hard core parcour!
It got darker and tighter in Spooky Canyon.
Light at the end of the tunnel!
Dry Forks Narrows was true to name and dry and narrow.
Glad we didn't see him alive. Tarantulas in wild can keep to themselves.
The "road" out. A collection of sand, rough gravel, rocks, and tons of dust.
