Plantation Tours

The day started with a tour of a Swamp Nature Center in Baton Rouge. Then we toured two different planations in St. Francisville. Good Buddy was surprised by the focus on mostly the planation owners with little acknowledgement to the hundreds of slaves who used to run these properties.
A hognose snake living at the Nature Center.
Tortoise butt too.The mirror behind us is alledgely very haunted after the children and wife's untimely death.
Molly the monarch graced us with her presence outside.
These ducks were fleeing an obnoxious hotel guest who was trying to grab them. The Mytles Plantation facade.
The statue garden outside the Rosedale Plantaion were replicas but still striking.
Where the slaves cooked and possibly lived.
Where the owners lived....pretty striking the disparity.
The garden was full of colorful surprises.A 260 year old live oak on the plantation.

Lousianna Calls

Today we moved further Eastbound to Lousianna and about 45 minutes West of Baton Rouge. We noticed a lot of damage to the landscape from recent hurricanes as we exitted Texas. Billboards were stripped; trees snapped in half; and neighborhoods collecting truck loads of debris to be hauled off. There are a disproportionate amount of Trump Flags, Dollar Generals, and Texas flags in South East Texas.
The canvas billboards were not strong enough to hold on.
Boats strewn about the river's edge.
Trees snapped in half from storm damage.
In Lousianna there are various roadways that span large areas of water.
