A Beast of a Travel Day

Today we said "adieu" to Ben and headed south to the Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Park area.

The first part of the drive was another nail biter (but not as bad as the one to Yosemite). We did some shopping in Fresno and refilled the DEF (aka diesel urine in the RV) and arrived around 3 pm at our RV park, which was definitely a saving grace of the day.

We picked a spot (unusual for an RV park) and started to set up. One problem... we couldn't get shorline electricity in the RV. After about 2 hours of trouble-shooting in the 90+ degree heat, we figured out our EMS surge protector was the problem and finally got electricity. The dogs (and we) were definitely happier to get some cool air. We were already working on back up plans of hotels back in Fresno and a trip to Camping World. It was laundry day too, so Good Buddy managed to get 3 loads done with the 1 machine working at this RV park. The park folk are nice, but this place leaves a little to be desired. It is super close to the entrance of the National Parks, so that is a plus.

This was after the scary ride through the mountains. Good Buddy didn't have the where-with-all to take pictures then.

A real estate office on the way to Fresno really likes America.

This part of California is DRY and yellow.

A metal cactus at the entrance of a farm (we think almonds) was an interesting find outside Fresno/Clovis.

The air quality is really bad in the foothills and the temperatures are going to be over 100 for the next 3 days. YUCK!

Approaching the foothills and about 15 minutes out from our arrival at our RV Park.
