Craters of the Moon (Here on Earth)

Not much in Arco, ID... But we did head back to Craters of the Moon National Park just down the road. No Rangers available and no passport stamp :-(, but did get to see lots of volcanic features on a long hike. The last eruption was estimated to be 2000 years ago.

We washed down the dogs and Winfield a little from all the bugs and dust. It was just in time for some evening thunderstorms to roll in.

Also met a nice neighbor who has a similar floofy dog to ours and several with similar rvs from Florida (small world, huh?).

Lava Trees
Buffalo Cave

This is the top rated restaurant in Arco, ID by Google. I didn't know Google was around in 1895 when their last customer was served.

Big Island, Idaho

We headed further West today over to Arco, ID. At the base of the Pioneer Mountains and close to Craters of the Moon National Memorial. We tried exploring the park this afternoon, but a strong thunderstorm nearly swept us away and thwarted our plans. It didn't help that is was a fee-free day with no Rangers providing maps or guidance outside the Visitor Center.

Mormon presence in Idaho Falls...

Nothing, ID.

More of Nothing, ID.

Something, ID - actually the Idaho National Laboratory.

Are we glowing yet? We just hear the theme song to the Simpsons.
Lava features at Craters of the Moon are striking.

Brutal wind and rain pelted us for this portion. We took refuge in the car and felt the car shake from the wind. We got out of there quick and will try again tomorrow.
