About 3 hours of Nothingness, Then Buffalo, WY

We headed out of dodge (err Custer) westward to Buffalo, Wyoming today. The landscape was pretty bare. An occasional town but mostly 3.5 hours of vast "grass"land. Once set up, we handled weekly chores (washed the dogs, the inside of the RV, and tackled 4 loads of laundry). The WiFi here is the best so far. We are even able to stream on our Firestick (after cleaning the battery corrosion in the remote)!!! Not much else to report today... Land of the Cheneys...

After seeing a bunch of nothing for a while, it was nice to see the edge of the Rocky Mountains again (i.e. Bighorn National Forest).

Buffalos and Da Bears!

The morning started with another pass at the Custer State Park Wildlife Drive. This time the dogs were in tow. We got to see a bunch of deer and American Bison (Buffalo). Then we hit up an easy paved trail along a creek and had a close encounter with Barney the Buffalo. Lastly we explored Bear Country USA (a safari style zoo). The baby bears were super cute.

15 min after our hike, there was a herd of over 50 bisons crossing the road. Rangers helped get them safely across so traffic could resume.

The Badlands NP is badass, Wall Drug Store is aight too

Today's adventure brought us 2 hrs away from camp to the Badlands National Park. (We had to queue the unrelated Bruce Springsteen song on arrival.) The eroded landscape was quite stunning. We drove half the park and stopped for the scenic overlooks. We also hit up a cool trail in which we had to climb a Jacobs ladder to complete the trail. The highlight was Roberts Prairie Dog town. They were too cute. 

No stop to the Badlands would be complete without a stop at Wall Drug. The 100 billboards along the 30 mile drive from Rapid City just made it seem like Shangri La. However, it felt like we were getting covid in the Wall Drug - really a little mall, amusement area, souvenir shop, and (expensive fast food) diner all in one. There were so many people closed in and less than half wore a face covering!

These goats stopped us both on the way out of town and back in. The baby was trying to nurse in the middle of the road but mom stopped after a minute. Maybe the welcoming committee?
